The Breath of Times (The conceptual background of epoch)

New ideas are interpreted through the alembic of learnt notions, and even the unprecedented is presented as a manifestation of the known. If an idea steps aside too far from the old then a gap arises between them and the new is pushed away as something extraneous and unintelligible. The boundary between the “excessive” and “temperate” new is determined by the conceptual background that constitutes the mental context within which the subject’s intellectual activity develops. It is the conceptual horizon that puts a limit to the mental outlook of any society and actually becomes a criterion of acceptability of new ideas.
