The Making of the Concepts of Value and Price in the Ancient World

Today, as before, heated debates flare up regarding value and price. Nevertheless the problem is still very fat from solution. One of fundamental causes of such a state of affairs is the lack of notice attracted to the evolution of these concepts. To make up the deficiency the author combines a detailed anatomizing of the price and value’s coming-to-be with the reconstruction of the logic of their “unfolding” – from the very origins to the age of decline of Rome, – all this in the context of practical challenges they were encountering.
